Who Stole The Past Three Days?

Was Saturday really the last day that I wrote a post?

Mercy, where has the time gone?  Somebody must've stolen it!

That reminds me of a funny story...

When Country Boy worked at a rather large corporation in the city, he lost his traveling coffee cup that he kept at work.  You know the ones with the handle and the lid?  He went on and on about how he could NOT believe that someone would steal his coffee cup!  This went on for months I tell ya!

Several months later, he went to one of his coworkers' desk to discuss a project and lo and behold there was a coffee cup that looked exactly like his sitting on top of the filing cabinet.   When he asked about it, the coworker said, "Yea, you left it here."   Ha!  It wasn't stolen after all!  (I'm glad I didn't see what that coffee looked like after sitting for several months... ew!)

The daughters and I still tease him to this day when he can't find something!  We say, "Somebody STOLE my (whatever it is he can't find)!"  Thankfully, my hubby just laughs!  He usually finds the item awhile later, heehee!  And no, I didn't hide it from him for those of you who are wondering!!!

Anyhoo...

It's been busy here at the homestead these past few days.  Christmas decorations have begun to spring up in the house, on the house and in the yard...

The above picture took me several years to finish.  It was so large that I worked on it off and on between other projects.  Unfortunately, this photo does not do it justice.  There is blending and gold filament throughout the stitching as well as white and gold beads.

... a few more presents have been purchased and a trip to Lowes was made culminating in a pit stop at the Hog Trough Golden Corral after hours of pondering and decision making.

White Christmas Cactus
We finally purchased a bath tub to replace the one Country Boy tore out a while ago.  I'm excited that I just may get my bathroom back in order before it gets cold down here.  I was not looking forward to traipsing across the cold house after showering in the guest bath!

Pink Christmas Cactus
Speaking of cold, it is NOT warming up today like it usually does.  Brrr!  I know, for many of you a day in the low 60's is pleasant!  But for us Floridians who are not having hot flashes yet.... it's cold!

On a different note, I am participating in a button swap with Nancy at A Rural Journal which sounds like fun!  I will be adding her button to my sidebar beginning tomorrow and will leave it there for the month.  If you would like to swap buttons with me, please let me know!

Simply Saturday

Today,
I am simply going to relax.

I am going to sit on my front porch
and absorb this beautiful weather we're having today.

This post-Thanksgiving day,
I am going to continue counting the blessings in my life.

I am going to do some cross-stitching.

I'm going to read.

And I'm simply going to enjoy the day!

What are you going to do today?

Black Friday

Hunter

The only Black Friday around here are these two black blobs lounging on the couch!

Precious
How 'bout you?
Do you battle the crowds looking for the deal of a lifetime?
My hat's off to those of you who do!

Me?
I can't tolerate the crowds or all the hustle 'n bustle in the stores.
I guess that's why I love the country life so much... it's a much s.l.o.w.e.r. pace out here!
Sure, there are always things to keep me busy but they're done at my own pace.

Good luck to you brave ones this Black Friday!
Stay safe and be nice!

Glamour Shots

Do you remember 'way back when' when Glamour Shots was all the rage?

I never did get a Glamour Shot made but I've seen photos from several people who had it done and they were gorgeous!

See what you think about these Glamour Girls...

and possible Glamour Boy!

Aren't they gorgeous?  My glamour girls (and possible boy!)!

My brother and sister-in-law left this morning *sad face* but I'll see them again on Thursday for Thanksgiving before they head back up north.  We spent many hours on the front porch chatting, ate lots of food, sat by a campfire and simply had a great time!

I also have some exciting news to share with you... I've sold two items from my Etsy shop this past week!  That has encouraged me to make and list a few more things on there.  I was reminded today, in Jayme the Coop Keeper's post, that I have one week from today before Cyber Monday so... I'm going to be busy this week if I want to get a few more items made by then!  I also have two orders for my casserole carriers that need to be done before Thursday, yikes!

I'm in the process of pre-washing the fabrics now so that they'll be ready to go when I am!

Digging Through the Archives

Other than taking photos last Monday while visiting Cedar Key, I haven't had a chance to get my camera out since then.  So, I thought I would take a look back through my archives and see what strikes me this time around!

These purple flowers jumped out at me this time!  I came across this purple weed (I don't know what kind it is) on my way to my mail box back in July.

Does anybody know what it is?  They're so dainty.

My brother and sister-in-law arrive this afternoon for the weekend... we're looking forward to visiting with them and catching up!

I hope y'all have a great Friday!

This or That and a Trip to Cedar Key

It is raining cats and dogs this morning.  Thankfully, all the animals have been fed and watered and I even picked a few more green beans before it started dumping outside.  I'll be canning those babies up some time today!

Also on today's agenda... cleaning house.  I was also going to do some grocery shopping but I think I'll wait until it stops raining.  IF it stops raining *smile*.  I'm always happy for the rain.  It does wonders for the vegetable garden!  Looks like I'll have to declutter my office desk now *sigh*, but it's long overdo so now's as good a time as any!

Country Boy worked on our anniversary so the following day, we took a little drive northwest of us to a little island off the west coast (of Florida) to a town called Cedar Key.  We were going to feast on some seafood and enjoy the views!

There's a fabulous fishing pier there.  Country Boy was wishing he had brought his fishin' poles!  ESPECIALLY after watching a guy pull a fish in... poor Country Boy!

Below is a lovely courtyard for the Harbour Master motel that is above their Dilly Dally Gally gift shop.  I think it would be a fabulous place to stay as it sits over and looks directly out at the water.

Can you see the bird getting a drink from the bird bath?

Bird Conference Center!
 Also in the courtyard were several of these large, rusty anchors.

Another view of the Bird Conference Center

We ate upstairs while enjoying the beautiful view!

After a delicious meal, we headed over to the pier for a bit of exercise before heading home.  The sun was quickly sinking below the horizon.

Fishermen checking their crab traps...

It was a lovely way to celebrate our anniversary!

It's no longer raining cats and dogs, just a lovely drizzle now.  I guess I need to tackle my chores now!

Ready To Sit Down

The other day while I was in the chicken run watching the chicks and taking photos this boy couldn't stand it and wanted in the run with me!

Hunter
He was laying on top of the chicken wire that is over the chicken run waiting for me to come out.  Such a silly cat!
~~~~~
This morning I posted this on my blog's Facebook page...
It's going to be a warm day today with a high of 87 and I have lots to do:  a load of laundry already washed and on the line, animals fed & watered.  Still need to:  disinfect hummingbird feeders and store for winter, make labels for homemade canned goods, continue tackling the hazardous waste zone aka the guestroom, continue sorting and organizing recipes, write grocery list, add more hay to the chicken coop... mercy, I think that's enough for one day!
It was definitely warm today for mid-November and I believe it reached 87 if not a bit higher.  I managed to get most of the above list done while jamming to George Winston, Enya and Yanni!  I love my iPod!  And to think, I didn't want one for the longest time!  It's definitely the last of the electronics for me though.  Have you noticed that you can't keep up with electronics any more these days?  As soon as you purchase one, there's another coming out right on its heels and yours is now outdated.  Oh well, that's another post!
Let's see how I did with getting everything done...
- hummingbird feeders disinfected... yep!  They are currently drying.  I want to make sure they are very dry before storing them for the winter.
- make labels for canned goods... nope!  Will do that this evening while waiting for Country Boy to get home from work.
- tackle the hazardous waste zone... yep!  Let me remind you what it looked like at the beginning of the week...
YIKES!!!
 Here it is ready for our guests...
I currently have a daybed with a trundle bed so I decided to arrange it like this so that both beds could stay out as long as company is here.
This room still needs a lot of work.  I have not been happy with this room since we've moved here and the daybed is not the right choice for this room.  It's such a difficult room to arrange due to where the window and closet are located.  One day, I'll get a full size bed which I think will work better in there and actually finish this room.
But for now, it will have to do!
Back to the list...
- continue sorting and organizing recipes... nope!  Will also do some more of that this evening.
- write grocery list... nope!  The sales flyer did not come in today's mail like usual.  I'll have to go online to see what the sales are for my local grocery store.
- add hay to the chicken coop... yep!  The girls are happy and couldn't wait for me to get all the hay put down and spread out before they were running over to check it out and see if there were any juicy bugs in it!
So, it appears that I have finished half of my list so far!  The night is young and I know I'll get the labels done and the grocery list made.  The recipes?  Will take me a LOOONG time to get through.  I can't believe how many recipes and recipe magazines that I have collected over the years!  Sheesh!
How about you?  Have you had a productive week so far?
Till next time,
