One afternoon when I was hangin' out in the chicken run with my camera I noticed that the girls were enjoying a nice dirt bath!
Dirt flying everywhere!
They would each take turns kicking up the dirt.
Ahhh, enjoying the coolness of the dirt!
These girls were definitely enjoying their dirt bath!
Duck update: the ducklings are growing like weeds. They are doubled in size already. Country Boy buried a clear plastic tote for them to swim in and they're quickly outgrowing it. I bought a 5' plastic pool for them earlier in the week and it will be here tomorrow. (It's arriving via some family members' van so that it didn't blow out the back of the truck on the way home!) Do you know how hard it is to find a plastic pool in December; even in Florida? You'd think there would be pools year round here! I will have updated photos soon!
Till next time,

The girls have grown so much ! What we did on our hobbie farm for our ducks and geese is my dad dug a hole big enought to put an old bath tub in for them , we would joke about it and say it was their spa lol Hope you all have a Happy New Year !
the hens are too cute!
and yes, i know how hard it is to find a kiddie pool in winter - one year the pool we have in our dog pen broke and i had to hunt thru about 5 stores to find one finally at Dollar General! :)
Looks like the girls are kicking up a little dirt for New Years-enjoy:@)
I too, love to watch our "girls" take dirt baths! They are so funny. You have some pretty girls!
I have been known to stand and watch sparrows take dirt baths, smiling the whole time. I'll bet chickens are even cuter.
I must say, these photos are about the nicest hen photos I've ever seen. Loved it!
Have a very Happy New Year and a blessed 2012 x
