One Week Ago...

... today my family and I said our I Love You's and Goodbyes to our Mom, Sister and Wife.

Mom on Mother's Day 2012
It was an exhausting two weeks after Mom's surgery.  She came through the surgery fine and was slowly recovering. We will never understand the serious and unfortunate events that took place after the surgery but we do know that God was in control and that He was fulfilling His plan.

And although last Tuesday was a difficult and emotional day for those of us left behind we all know that Mom is happy, healthy, whole and walking the streets of gold right now while singing praises at the top of her lungs.

Mom was a devout, Christian lady who loved and served her Heavenly Father.

Mom loved her family dearly and always wanted the best for us.

Mom always let you know her opinion on a matter whether you wanted to hear it or not!

Mom had a few health concerns later on in life but none that slowed her down and none that kept her on a ton of medication.  She volunteered at the local hospital.  She taught a ladies Bible Study.  She loved to read, go shopping and could make a mighty fine chili.

As an old friend put it, Mom was a smiley, upbeat woman.

During this past week, I found myself thinking of things that I needed to remember to tell Mom.  Then, it hits me.  I know this will happen for a while and it will take time for the pain of loss to lessen.

Thankfully, I know that I will see my Mom again one day which helps ease the pain of loss.  I told her to pick out a nice farm up in Heaven for CountryBoy and I!  Even though she won't be on the farm (been there done that in her younger days) she'll be near by!

I want to thank all of you who said they would be sending up prayers and thinking of us over the past several weeks.  My family truly felt the prayers and were at peace during this difficult time.  The power of prayer is amazing and your encouraging comments were uplifting!  Again, a huge, heartfelt thank you!

Till next time,

That is hard to lose your mother, I know. Your mother looks so like my mother-in-law I did a double take. You know she is with her Lord now. But I am sorry for your losing her unexpectedly. There is not a day that goes by I don't think about my mother. She's been gone 27 years. xo Jenny

So sorry for your loss, I know the feeling, one more question you wished you had asked, or you want to call and tell her something and then reality sets in. Cherish the memories you had.

"A smiley upbeat woman", now that is a description anyone would prize. Yes, though your heart is sad, you will have a reunion one day, on that farm in heaven.

"and she could make a mighty fine chili" made me smile. Please take care, my thoughts are with you.

Since I recently experienced the loss of my mother earlier this year, I can certainly sympathize with what you're going through. The only consolation I had was that Mama was no longer suffering. I often wonder how much harder it is for those who do not believe. Peace and blessings to you and your family. May God wrap you in his loving care.

I am so sorry for your loss. I rejoice with you that she is in Heaven and having a great time with Jesus! I too want a nice farm up there but this time I would like some critters that I can pet.

Hugs,
Angela

God's grace will see you through the days ahead.... sometimes there's no figuring why and what and if-onlys. We're facing difficult decisions with my parent's-in-law, ageing can be a difficult time. Seems your mom had a wonderful quality of life until the last few weeks, something to be truly grateful for.

May you find the peace you need in the Lord. Your mother sounds like a fine lady and God is lucky to have her back in his fold.
