Quilt Explosion!

Hey Y'all!  It's been a while hasn't it?  Talk about feeling 'out of the loop' without internet access!

Anyhoo, I hope y'all had a wonderful Christmas and Holiday Season and are looking forward to 2014!  I know we are.

Speaking of the new year... are y'all making new year's resolutions?

I don't necessarily make resolutions but I do like to come up with some goals and plans to accomplish them.

One of those goals is to complete the various projects I have started.

See, I have lots of hobbies and I usually have one project of each hobby started at a time.  But, when living in a 5th wheel, space restrictions do not allow me to have too many projects going on at one time because then they just become clutter.  Or, I'm constantly moving a work-in-progress to work on something else.

One such project was a wall-hanging quilt that came as a kit and was given to me by my sister-in-law.  I started the quilt before I took any quilt classes and knew what I was doing.  It turned out OK but after taking the quilt classes I knew that I couldn't live with the initial results of my first attempt at quilt-making (corners not lining up, etc.) and had to make the attempt to fix it.

Initial quilt top done, sandwiched and basted for top-stitching
So... I ripped most of it apart in an attempt to fix a few things that I didn't know to do the first time around.

I was happy with the strips of log cabin blocks so I left them intact and simply squared them up.

Then I sewed the strips together being careful to line the blocks with each other.

Next, I squared the borders and sewed them back on being careful to line the corner blocks up with each other.

Here is the completed quilt top ready to be pinned together...

I am much happier with the quilt top now!

My next goal will be to finish the top-stitching which I will work on today.

Do you have any projects that need to get finished up?

Till next time,

Hey girl, you did good with reworking your beautiful quilt wall hanging. I admire your keeping up your creative hobbies, even in a small space.

Your quilt is looking great. It's quite a learning process but that's half the fun. Won't it be good to have it finished and to admire your work.
