OK, enough of that...
It was a manic Monday for me with lots of physical labor. I started out by digging a twenty foot trench about a foot deep on the one side of the chicken coop. I also cut two small tree stumps that were in my way with a hand saw and used some tin snips to cut some extra chicken wire that had not been trimmed after the coop was completed that was also in my way.
Oh, and I forgot to mention all the roots I came across while digging, sigh.
I took a break during a brief rain shower (actually, I vacuumed the house while it was raining. I guess that doesn't really count as a break!) and then it was back at 'em.
Now it was time to put some chicken wire down in the trench. I bent the wire the width of the trench and pulled it snug and stapled it to the bottom of the coop and then cut the excess wire. All the while trying NOT to poke my eye out or tear up my hands. All this to keep predators out of the coop and run. We learned the hard way and definitely don't want it to happen again.
No sooner did I get that done then we had several more nice rain showers. Some very much-needed rain. My gardens will be so happy!
Since Country Boy has done this project several times already while making two other chicken runs, he's happy that he's busy with work and I'm doing this project with my Dad! I'm wishing he wasn't working so hard... selfish of me , I know!
Tomorrow, work begins on the enclosure. We're planning on doing a hoop-style enclosure with chicken wire on top. Since we've never tackled this sort of enclosure before here at the homestead, I'll let you know how it goes.

I started this blog as a way of sharing my photography and my homesteading stories with family and friends so it's quite unbelievable to me that over 100 people are interested in my photos and my babbling! Y'all know how to make a girl feel good!
Blogging has been quite an adventure. I didn't even know what a blog was 16 months ago when a friend of mine kept telling me I should start a blog. I had no idea what I was doing or where I was heading with the blog. But, the beauty of a blog is you can head wherever you want with it and you can change it up whenever you want!
During the 16 months that I have been blogging, I have 'met' so many wonderful people. I've learned so much from other bloggers; I've been encouraged by all the positive comments on my posts; I've had questions graciously answered by fellow bloggers; I've witnessed and participated in bloggers supporting another blogger through an illness or an extremely difficult time; I've laughed at some of the posts and I've cried at others. It's a very supportive community and has truly been a wonderful experience! Thank you all for being a part of it!
