Life in the Chillaxing Lane

Last night Country Boy and I drove back to my old, city stomping grounds.  We met some friends for dinner who were in town for a couple of days.  The closer we got to the city, the more we could sense a different vibe in the air.  We had a really nice visit but we couldn't wait to get back to our two lane roads, open fields and slower pace of life!  Chillaxing Baby!  Love that new term!

My folks came for a visit today.  We spent some time chit-chatting, had lunch and then went to the greenhouse to tackle the massive staghorn fern that is loaded with pups.  It was so big that it split in half.  Dad showed me how to cut the pups out of the staghorn.  We then wrapped the larger ones with spagnum moss and attatched them onto boards.  We put the smaller ones in wooden, slatted hanging baskets (the kind used for orchids) that were filled with moss.  We then watered them well and now we'll see how good the new pups do on their own.

Here's a picture of the 'mother' staghorn fern hanging in my greenhouse...
That's my Dad looking for the pups.

He managed to get five of them off and onto boards or baskets.  We decided to tackle the upper left portion of the staghorn another day because we didn't have enough moss and we need a rather large board to attach it to.  There is a lot of new growth already in the area where it split in half.

Here are some photos I took while I was chillaxing on my new patio...
Begonia

Female cardinal

This squirrel had me going for a bit... it jumped from the roof of our pumphouse onto the top of this tree stump and stood for a bit.  Notice he's got a nut in his mouth.  I took the photo and was checking the viewscreen to make sure it turned out OK, then, when I looked back up, this is what I saw...
He was laying down!  I've never seen a squirrel lay down before, especially with food in its mouth!  I thought something had happened to it because it stayed like that for a minute or so.  Then, all of a sudden...
It jumps up and starts eating the nut!  Silly squirrel!  He must have felt like chillaxing for a minute!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!  What did you do to chillax?

Till next time,
