The Moment You've All Been Waiting For...

OK, maybe not ALL of you have been waiting but, I know I sure have looked forward to this moment *huge smile*... the floor project is done!

Here are some before photos...

Your typical sheet of linoleum.  It was fine when we first moved in but over time scuff marks began to show from the dining chairs and this started happening a year or so ago...

it shrank and started curling up.  How do you like Hunter's squeaky mouse!  Also, take note of the white piece in the lower right corner of the above photo.  This is a door jamb.

After being a box short and then adding another project to the original project (which Country Boy and I are well-known for!) here's the finished project...

Such a huge difference!  I like how these vinyl tiles look like ceramic!

No more peeling linoleum!  AND, no more white, vinyl covered pressboard in the door jambs that were swollen at the bottoms!  We purchased some pine boards and I stained them to match the existing baseboards and trim.  That change has made a huge difference in the look of the doorway from the family room into the kitchen.  We also did the same thing in the doorway in the laundry room that leads to the backyard.  We took the old, cheap stuff out and put in painted white pine boards.

The other project we also tackled at the same time was finally adding some trim at the ceiling in our living room.  My sister helped me hang paintable wallpaper two years ago but because our ceiling is slanted, we weren't sure how to install crown molding so, it was left unfinished.  Our solution... we purchased 2"x1/4" pieces of pine and I stained them to match the baseboards and trim.  I did not get a before photo but, here's the finished look...

Just by adding these pieces, the look of the entire family room changed and now it too is finished!

Woot!  Country Boy did an awesome job and we're both glad that those projects are done!

Hmmm, what's next.... the back porch.  Major project there but that will have to wait until it cools down a bit before we tackle that!

Thanks for stopping by and taking an interest in what's happening in our neck of the woods!

Till next time,

Nothing like a couple updates to make a home feel brand new again. It looks great...tell your hubby he did a great job! I love that my hubby can do all that is on his honey do list anything I put on his honey-do-list.
