Feathers

I thought I would give y'all an update on the chicks.  First, I had a scare last week as one of the girls could hardly get around.  She had a terrible limp and could only take a couple of steps before she plopped back down.  I had no idea what had happened because she was fine at bedtime the night before and by morning she couldn't move.  Yikes!

In the past, I had a chick that became splayed leg (where they leg goes to the side and can be caused by the leg getting caught on something).  Country Boy and I did everything we could think of to try and 'fix' her leg.  Needless to say, she didn't make it and I was heart-broken.  So, of course, that was the first thought that entered my mind when I saw my baby hardly moving and in obvious pain.

I picked her up and felt of both her legs and hips to see if the hip was dislocated.  Nothing felt out of place but when I touched the upper part of her leg and hip she would squeal.  Since I didn't see anything obvious, I started praying for her.  That's right!  As I was holding her, I asked the Lord to heal her.  To some of you, that may seem like a ridiculous thing to do because, after all, it's just a chicken.  Well, maybe that's true but I know that if something concerns me then it concerns my Heavenly Father too!  I prayed several times for her throughout the next several days and each day her limp was less and less.  Today, she is running and flapping her wings with the rest of the flock.  Chicken Mama is very happy about that!

I want to remind you what these beauties looked like a few short weeks ago...

So cute and fuzzy!

Here they are two weeks later...

Can you see the feathers on her wings, the top of her back and her tail?

They've also discovered what their wings are for...

Both feet off the ground!  They love to run around the coop.  One girl will get a wild feather and off she goes!  The rest of them don't want to miss out on the action so they take off running and flying too!

It's a madhouse but so fun to watch!

Here are my triplets...

and a girl with eyeliner...

Ain't she purdy?  (Don't look at my messy coop... I'll be cleaning it tomorrow.)

Can you believe how quickly these girls are growing up?  It's only been two weeks *sigh*.

Linking up with

Till next time,
