Just Had To Do It!

If you've ever watched HGTV then I'm sure you've heard the word 'repurposed' before.  You know, where you take an item, rework it a bit and then it can be used for a different purpose.

Well, y'all know how much I enjoy doing laundry but I was unhappy with my laundry area.  Mainly, the wire shelf above the washer and dryer.

What a mess with dish towels, rags, boxes for shipping, basket for collecting cardboard egg cartons, empty juice containers, etc., etc. all stored in this area with no way to hide it.

For some time, we've wanted to put cabinets up there but that was not a priority on our never-ending To-Do list.

A while ago, I redid my office space getting a small desk (that is too small to collect clutter!) for my laptop and taking out what was meant to be a work space.

As you can see, what I thought was a good idea ended up being a rather large surface to put stuff on (and this photo is AFTER I cleaned it up, hahaha)!  We stored the cabinets in the shed and forgot about them.

My amazingly creative and handy hubby took the cabinets that I had taken out of my office and decided to repurpose them for my laundry area.

He basically turned them upside down, sawed off the 'legs', and took an inch or so off the 'drawer' space so that I could raise the lid on the washer.  Genius!

I really love how it looks now and I have a lot more storage space!

In fact, after admiring it for a couple of days now, I just HAD to do some laundry.  What with my new  drying rack and organized laundry room, who wouldn't want to do laundry now, hahaha!  I know, not too many people enjoy doing laundry like I do!

I'm feeling much more chipper today thanks to doing a load of laundry, a beautiful day, my wonderful hubby who is my rock and for all your sweet, encouraging comments on yesterday's post.  This too shall pass and we'll get through this little speed bump the same way we get through everything else... with lots of prayer and determination!  Then, we'll be back on track to accomplishing our goals for this year.

I hope you're having a great weekend!

Do you have all your junk food for the big game tomorrow night?  I still don't know who's playing and I won't be watching it. But, if you're in to football, then enjoy the game and eat some junk food for me, woohoo!

Till next time,

That is a great laundry room! We had an odd space rebuilt into a laundry room/half bath last year. I think I need some cabinets in there.
