The town of Searchlight, Nevada is an old mining town established back in 1898 and at that time was larger than Las Vegas. The mines were very successful in mining gold, silver and a few other precious minerals. There are a few mines still in operation but most are abandoned.
One day, CountryBoy and I checked out this abandoned mine by the side of the road...
What a gorgeous backdrop!
The cars were pulled up a very steep incline...
Steep stairs with no hand rails. Wouldn't OSHA love that, hahaha!
CountryBoy leaned over a tad too far and got his shirt caught on a barb!
Thankfully, he managed to get 'uncaught' with no damage to the shirt.
While meandering around the mine, I found a few treasures from back in the day...
I love these old nails...
I'm not sure what this is or what it was used for. It was up on the hill behind the main building.
I have a lot more photos of the beautiful scenery surrounding the old mine that I will show you another time. So, stay tuned!
Till next time,
