What's Happening, Hot Stuff?

Sorry, that was a flashback to the movie 'Sixteen Candles' with Molly Ringwald.

But, I wanted to update y'all on what's happening around here.

Family
My Dad and brother arrived safely yesterday around mid-morning after a forty hour, non-stop drive from Florida to Nevada.  Whew!  Many prayers went up for their safety.  And, after hearing some of their stories last night over dinner.... it's a good thing so many people were praying!

They are flying back home this morning.

I will be venturing to the Las Vegas airport for the first time on my own.  Yikes!

Actually, it's fairly simple to get to the vicinity of the airport.  It's getting to the parking garage and getting them to the right ticket counter that could be tricky.

Animals
They reported that the cats did very well during the entire trip.

The cats also adjusted quickly to their new surroundings and immediately took over our bed.  Sigh.

We had no idea how the night would go and were almost dreading it but, it turned out to be a peaceful night for the most part.

Around 3:00 a.m., an hour before we have to get up, LizzieBelle (who had been sleeping in her bed on the couch) decided she wanted on the bed also.

Precious, who was at the foot of the bed, in between our feet, decided she didn't want LizzieBelle up there and began to tell her so.

Meanwhile Hunter decides it's time to play.  Sigh.

After thirty minutes or so, everyone settled down.  LizzieBelle successfully made it onto the bed, Hunter settled down and Precious quieted down.  Whew.

Thirty more minutes of sleep and the alarm goes off.  Oh well.

Technology
After dinner, my brother (the family computer whiz) set up my router that he brought with him.

After borrowing another ethernet cable (we needed two for the initial setup) from our friend and neighbor we were up and running.

Now that it's set up, it's all wireless so I'll return the cable today.

CountryBoy was tickled because he now had a good signal for his online video games that he loves to play.

I was happy because we no longer had to swap the ethernet cable on the modem and take turns being online.  Now, I can peruse my favorite blogs while he's playing his video games!  Win, win!

Unfortunately, we were not able to set up my wireless printer.

Getting my printer up and running is a priority but everyone was tired last night and I have to get in the cargo trailer to get the USB cord and the installation CD.  It was dark.  I didn't feel like doing it last night.

So, this morning, I am going to try uninstalling it on my computer and then reinstalling it this morning.

I have items that need to be shipped immediately and I need to make my tags that I ship with the item.  I also need to print the shipping label as well.

I'm crossing my fingers that all will go well on the first go round.  Wish me luck!

My brother says I need a Mac.  I agree.  Some day...

Unpacking
I didn't get a lot of unpacking done yet.

Because we put all the boxes and totes on the floor so that they would travel better and the weight was more evenly distributed, I had to unload every box so that I could get organized.

I managed to get a few totes on the shelves and a few of them unpacked.  I have clothes hanging in the closet now, woot!

I still have all the kitchen (small appliances and utensils) and pantry boxes to unpack but I have to empty the cabinets in the 5th wheel first and decide what stays in the 5th wheel and what can be stored in the trailer.  I will also be donating a few items we don't use to Goodwill.

I also have to pull the trailer up a bit so that the power cord can reach the electrical box.  I went to plug it in yesterday and I was less than two inches short from being able to plug it in.

So, for now, I plugged in an extension cord that the freezer and fridge are plugged into only to find out that the outlet doesn't work.  Sigh.

Thankfully, it's cold enough outside that as long as we don't open either of them up they'll be fine and keep the contents cold or frozen.

I will also be letting the office know that the outlet needs fixed.

Friday I will begin the task of tearing apart the kitchen and getting everything organized.

I can't wait because it's chaos all up in here now, ha!

CountryBoy
He is sticking to the diet and is doing well.  He has an appointment this afternoon with a cardiologist.  We won't know anything today but we're hoping the doctor will check to see if any more veins have grown since his last scan a couple of weeks ago and will be accepting of us trying to treat this with diet and will work with us on that.

So many doctors want to prescribe drugs yet never get to the root of the problem.  We want to get to the root of this problem rather than putting a bandaid on it with drugs.

If something proves to be medically urgent and necessary we are willing to go that route.  We're praying that's not the case.

I'm sure there are more updates I am failing to remember right now but I think that's enough for now.  If you're wondering about something I've mentioned before but haven't updated you on then feel free to ask.

I truly appreciate y'all following along on our new adventure, both the good and the bad.  Your thoughts and prayers mean the world to us.

I'm sorry there are no photos today.  I think this is my first non-photo post!

Till next time,

Even with a few hiccups it sounds like things are going well! Praying all of Country Boy's heart issues can be controlled with diet and exercise. Thank you for remembering to update us on your adventures. It's exciting to follow along with you! Hugs.
