So.... What's Up?

Hi folks!  Yep, I'm still around (wink).

I was informed that it's been AWHILE since my last post and I couldn't agree more.

I miss blogging. interacting with y'all. taking photos. sharing my photos with y'all.

I miss being a housewife. cleaning. planning healthy meals. cooking healthy meals. crafting.

My job has been an experience of a lifetime.  Something I never thought I would do or have the opportunity to do.  Mind you, it is NOT exciting by any means. In fact, it is usually deemed the most difficult job in the construction industry due to the fact of the sheer boredom of it.  I mean, standing (or occasionally sitting on my 5 gallon bucket) for ten hours a day six, sometimes seven days a week, watching for a fire that might ignite from some welding or other form of hot work (usually done over concrete or dirt)  makes for a very looooonnnnnggg day. Especially if you're someone like me who likes to stay busy.

But, the pay has been good so I can't and won't complain.

In fact, we have been blessed to be able to start putting some money away for our future dream farmhouse and farm.  We're very excited about the possibility of it becoming a reality one day.

Another fact... we just got back from a 4,000 plus mile round trip back home to take care of another step towards our dream.

We have been traveling for a couple of years now and the job circuit that we are traveling seems to be staying mostly in the west to midwest making it very difficult and costly to ever travel back home to the central Florida area even between jobs.

Thankfully, my family has been taking care of the place while we've been gone but that's a lot of work to keep a vacant house and yard up and one that we could not and did not want for them to have to continue.

We decided to put the house on the market so, again, my family took care of packing up the remaining items in the house that hadn't been packed or already sold along with CountryBoy's tools from the barn and stored them for us.

The house listed the first of April and we had a contract on the third.

Yep! A cash offer even!  Truly a blessing!

We signed the contract and decided to head down there over our Easter break to sort through the remaining items and store what we wanted to keep.

We had to take an extra six days off since it takes about three days one way to get there.

Although it was a successful trip, it was also quite emotional.

We were saying so long to our home of ten years where we put a lot of time and effort trying to make that a farm.

All the photos in this post are flowers and plants in our yard that we worked hard on getting to grow.  The above photo is of a pineapple growing in the greenhouse (how I'll never know because it was never watered!) after being planted several years ago. (I won't mention the orange tree we planted shortly after moving in finally producing oranges this year. CountryBoy waited and waited for that tree to produce and never got to eat any. Just glad my family enjoyed them!)

We also took some time to say some 'see ya laters' to family and friends.  Always hard to say goodbye so we said 'see ya later'!

The thought of being 'homeless' also crossed our minds but our home is in the fifth wheel wherever we happened to be located at the moment.

We are now one, small step closer towards our goal of owning a farm one day.

We will continue to live simply, save money and dream!

How much longer am I going to work you might ask?

That is the million dollar question fer sure!

The original six to eight weeks has passed.  I keep hoping they'll tell me they don't need me anymore but on the flip side, each paycheck is going towards our dream. So, here's to long, boring days and a paycheck at the end of the week!  I will be a crafting, blogging housewife again soon!

So, that's what's up with us.  What's up with y'all?

Till next time...

Def not "good bye" but most likely a "see ya next year!". This "see ya in april" tradition must continue. :)

Glad to know you're still around and ok.
Sounds like you're in transition time and an emotional one, but there's a good goal to aim for. Glad you were able to sell your house to a cash buyer and that went through ok. Our local daughter is trying to sell her house and downsize so we can relate right now to your situation.
The photos of your plants are great! It's lovely to have some living items to take along in your travels and I always do the same. All the best to you both and hope to hear from you again soon.
