Sightseeing

Before relocating to our new location CountryBoy and I drove around trying to find his new place of employment and to find an RV Park with an available lot to rent.

While looking we happened upon the San Jacinto Monument...

and the Battleship Texas...

We did not tour either of these since we were on a mission but tours are available.

For all you history buffs, you can read more about this historic battle that took place on these grounds HERE.

Last Saturday we drove back to our former location to the post office (long story as to why we haven't changed P.O. boxes yet) so we decided to take the scenic route and do some sightseeing along the way.

Here are a few of the things that we saw...

1892 Bishop's Palace in Galveston (also known as Gresham House).

During my first trip to England I fell in love with conservatories. Having afternoon tea in the conservatory surrounded by plants and being able to view the outdoors all at the same time. sigh.

I told CountryBoy that, although it may be odd, I wanted a conservatory in our future old farmhouse. ha!  Can you picture it?  I think it would be awesome! He rolled his eyes. The nerve (wink).

But, I digress.  Again, for you history buffs you can read more about the 1892 Bishop's Palace HERE.

A few blocks down is the Moody Mansion...

Did you see the conservatory in the above photo?  Oh yea!

This 28,000 square foot mansion was completed in 1895.

The Moody's had quite the empire.  You can read more about it HERE.

We also stopped at The Kemah Boardwalk in Kemah...

There was a steady stream of boats heading in and out...

Nice day to be on the water...

So pretty and one of our favorite restaurants too!

Fun, fun, fun for everyone!  Both the kids and the adults are cooling off while listening to a live band performing in the band stand...

More info on the Boardwalk if you're interested HERE.

We had a great time sightseeing and will definitely be back for another visit or two to the boardwalk. I even had something awesome waiting for me at the post office.  More on that later for those of you not on Facebook who already know, smile!

Till next time my friends...

The Bishop's House is in a style I admire, conservatory, porches, rooms in towers. Gorgeous.
