Seeing Double

From time to time I have posted pictures of Precious and Hunter individually but never together.

Some of you may have been wondering if we really DO have two black cats, ha!

Well, here's proof...

Captured in a rare moment where they are relaxing in the same vicinity.  Precious is in the foreground and Hunter is in the back.

I had to walk over them to get my camera that was in the bedroom and, unbelievably, they did not move!

(I'm also glad that my carpet was clean, (wink)!)

So there ya have it... two black kitty cats chillin' in the fifth wheel!

The Mundane

It took its time warming up today so even though it is 'supposed' to be Spring, I am sitting here, late morning, drinking Pumpkin coffee.  Yep, Pumpkin in the Spring.

The beginning of this morning's sunrise was spectacular!

A new day, a new beginning.

I've rearranged the living area of the 5th wheel.  Again.

I can now do some sewing even if CountryBoy is home.

I also relocated the broadband and router equipment.  Again.  Although, I am extremely frustrated with electronics at the moment.

I do know that I will never buy another PC again.  It will be a Mac or I will do without.  Just sayin'.

Eventually, I will have everything in a place that will be comfortable yet efficient.

When living in a small space, everything must have a purpose or function.  There is a lot of moving 'this' to get to 'that'.

Little by little I'm finding ways of arranging things and utilizing what storage space we have in an efficient yet comfy manner.

On another note, have you ever looked into a cat's eye?

Feeling Human Again

I woke up this morning feeling human again, yay!

I spent yesterday fighting a headache.

I didn't do much other than some reading, a bit of crocheting, helped a friend figure out what to do with some new yarn she bought and I made some homemade tomato soup for dinner (which was delicious except that next time I will cut back on the amount of black pepper it calls for.  Mercy, it was spicy!)

But, for most of the day, I felt out of sorts and unable to get motivated.

This was the weather yesterday...

gray skies with little bits of drizzly rain.

Even the birds spent some time chilling yesterday!

It's good to chill out every now and then.  We all need it.

Maybe that's why we have days that we feel puny and not 100% so that we can slow down and just chill.  Because when we feel good there's usually too much to do or too much we want to do and we don't take the time to chill.

I definitely chilled yesterday but am happy that I'm feeling better today!

I have to show y'all some of what happens in the 5th wheel with the animals.

Hunter and LizzieBelle are both the jealous type when it comes to me.

If Hunter is on my lap or getting attention from me poor LizzieBelle can't stand it and vice versa.

The other evening I was sitting on the couch and LizzieBelle was on my lap while I was crocheting.  Hunter sees this so he jumps on the couch, as well, and proceeds to get in LizzieBelle's bed and lays down.  Too funny!

Hunter obviously doesn't care that he's in a pink bed with a pink and white polka dotted blanket over him. It's the fact that he's in that pesky dog's bed and that's that!

LizzieBelle looked at him but didn't care that he was in her bed since she was on Momma's lap!

Silly animals!

Miscellany Updates

Not a very interesting title, but my brain is going 90 to nothing and that's the best I could do.  What's one to do!

Since I have so much to do today before my CountryBoy comes home tonight (YAY!!!!!) let's get right to the update shall we?

Animal update:

Hunter is recovering nicely from his declawing surgery last Wednesday.  I know, I hated to do it to him but I figured it would be less stressful on everyone in the 5th wheel if he weren't tearing it up.  He got his last dose of pain medicine this morning but still has four more days of antibiotics twice a day.  He takes his pills rather well for a cat.  I have found that giving them to him while he's lounging on the bed on his back (don't worry, I put him down when he's ready to get down rather than letting him jump) is the easiest way.  I open his mouth and because of his position, the pill goes to the back of his throat and he swallows it right away.  Whew!

Here's Hunter before his surgery lounging in LizzieBelle's crate.  I was thankful that he went in there on his own before the surgery because he had no problem going in there afterwards to rest rather than jumping on the bed.  He was able to come and go in there since I never closed the door but he seemed to be content.  I think he was just trying to get LizzieBelle's goat by sleeping in there!

He is walking around  fairly well now and is dying to go outside.  Unfortunately, his days of being outdoors are over.  If I hadn't used up most of my brain cells with this move I would have started to train him in the litterbox before his surgery but I just didn't think about it.  So, he had to learn how to use it afterwards and finally gave it go last night.  In fact, he was the first to use it even when our older cat knew how to use the box from days ago.  He's such a good, smart boy!  I have to pick up some more special litter that has to be used for ten days.

Trailer update:

The trailer is here!  I drove yesterday from Central Florida to South Georgia to pick up the cargo trailer that I had ordered online.  Do you know how scary it is purchasing something online and adding options and yet you've never physically seen the item that you're purchasing and have to trust that it's not a scam?!  Yea, I was a little nervous but I had to trust the Lord that all would work out well.

And, it did.  There was a little setback when we tried to hook up the trailer because of the spare tire that is located on the back of my Jeep.  Once we were able to get the tire off (another problem because of a special lug nut for avoiding theft) there was no problem getting it hooked up.  But, while I was hooking it up, I noticed a defect at the bottom of the shaft that raises and lowers the trailer.  It was all smashed in on one side.  They graciously changed it out and then I was on my way.

The Jeep handled the trailer really well.  It was extremely windy yesterday yet the trailer hardly swayed at all.    The traffic on the interstate was horrendous from the moment I got on it until the moment I got off.  Nothing like getting practice pulling a trailer in thick traffic right off the bat!

Overall, I am pleased with the trailer, the options were put in correctly and it was a good purchase.  It wasn't all peaches & cream along the way but, in the end, it all worked out!

Now, I will buy some shelves to put on one side of the trailer for vertical storage.  

Fence update:

Half of the line posts were installed yesterday.  The guys will be back tomorrow and Monday to finish it up.

Packing update:

I don't even want to go there.  Still so much that needs to be packed.

Husband update:

CountryBoy flies in tonight, YAY!!!  Even though I have so much to do before going to pick him up, tonight just won't get here fast enough!

Christmas Gift update:

All store-bought gifts have been purchased.  I still have a bit more to do on the handmade gifts.  And yes, I  know there are only THREE more days until Christmas!

I can't tolerate the crowds or all the hustle 'n bustle in the stores.

I guess that's why I love the country life so much... it's a much s.l.o.w.e.r. pace out here!

Sure, there are always things to keep me busy but they're done at my own pace.

Ready To Sit Down

The other day while I was in the chicken run watching the chicks and taking photos this boy couldn't stand it and wanted in the run with me!

This morning I posted this on my blog's Facebook page...

It's going to be a warm day today with a high of 87 and I have lots to do:  a load of laundry already washed and on the line, animals fed & watered.  Still need to:  disinfect hummingbird feeders and store for winter, make labels for homemade canned goods, continue tackling the hazardous waste zone aka the guestroom, continue sorting and organizing recipes, write grocery list, add more hay to the chicken coop... mercy, I think that's enough for one day!

It was definitely warm today for mid-November and I believe it reached 87 if not a bit higher.  I managed to get most of the above list done while jamming to George Winston, Enya and Yanni!  I love my iPod!  And to think, I didn't want one for the longest time!  It's definitely the last of the electronics for me though.  Have you noticed that you can't keep up with electronics any more these days?  As soon as you purchase one, there's another coming out right on its heels and yours is now outdated.  Oh well, that's another post!

Let's see how I did with getting everything done...

- hummingbird feeders disinfected... yep!  They are currently drying.  I want to make sure they are very dry before storing them for the winter.
- make labels for canned goods... nope!  Will do that this evening while waiting for Country Boy to get home from work.
- tackle the hazardous waste zone... yep!  Let me remind you what it looked like at the beginning of the week...

 Here it is ready for our guests...

I currently have a daybed with a trundle bed so I decided to arrange it like this so that both beds could stay out as long as company is here.

This room still needs a lot of work.  I have not been happy with this room since we've moved here and the daybed is not the right choice for this room.  It's such a difficult room to arrange due to where the window and closet are located.  One day, I'll get a full size bed which I think will work better in there and actually finish this room.

But for now, it will have to do!

Back to the list...
- continue sorting and organizing recipes... nope!  Will also do some more of that this evening.
- write grocery list... nope!  The sales flyer did not come in today's mail like usual.  I'll have to go online to see what the sales are for my local grocery store.
- add hay to the chicken coop... yep!  The girls are happy and couldn't wait for me to get all the hay put down and spread out before they were running over to check it out and see if there were any juicy bugs in it!

So, it appears that I have finished half of my list so far!  The night is young and I know I'll get the labels done and the grocery list made.  The recipes?  Will take me a LOOONG time to get through.  I can't believe how many recipes and recipe magazines that I have collected over the years!  Sheesh!

Mama's Boy

With the cooler morning temperatures that we've been having lately, I'll sometimes put my soft and fuzzy, extra-large pink bathrobe on and head out to feed the animals.  After it warms up, I'll toss it on the bed and go about my business.

The other day, I found this in my bathrobe...

Hunter!  All warm and cozy!

He loves anything soft and fuzzy!

He's a snuggler too.  On cold nights, he likes to sleep in the crook of my arm.  He's such a Mama's Boy!

He's also as silly as they come!  The other morning, Country Boy and I were enjoying a cup of coffee while sitting around a campfire.  One of my other black cats, Precious, was comfortably laying on my lap when all of a sudden, we heard this loud BANG behind us.  Precious tore off my lap (leaving a few scratches on my leg) and Country Boy and I whipped our heads around to see what all the noise was about.  We see Hunter trying to hang on for dear life to the tin roof of the lean-to that Country Boy just built off the pump house to store our wood for the winter. Hunter had all twenty claws out trying to get a grip.  All that did for him was help him slide off the tin roof faster!  Fingernails down a chalkboard I tell ya'!  He slid right off, hind end first, flipped over and landed on his feet.  I have him a 10 for form and for sticking the landing!  He looked around to see who all just saw that, brushed it off and continued on about his morning like nothing ever happened!  It was too funny!

What was funnier was the look that Precious was giving him after she had recovered from the BANG.  She was definitely giving him the stink eye!  He just ignored her!  If only we knew what was really going on in their heads!

The Kids

This Lil Man is all boy...

He's a black cat but you sure can't tell that in this picture!  He had just taken a dust-bath and happily ran over to show me, sigh!  I think he watched the chickens a little too closely and learned their dust-bath secrets!  Time to get the vacuum cleaner out!

We're still working on being a lady!  At least she doesn't take dust baths!

On a side note, I need to find good homes for our other 'kids', *sniff*.  I will write another post about that but in the meantime, if any of you know of someone who needs an indoor, furry companion please let me know.

A Little Behind

As I'm sitting on my front porch writing this post, my kitchen calendar still shows the month of April!  I know I'm home all the time but, well, OK, so there is no excuse *laugh*!  Just never thought of it until Country Boy & I were sitting at the kitchen table this morning having a cup of (black, blah) coffee before he headed off to work.  I could use the excuse that I don't even know what day it is half the time, what with not working anymore and Country Boy's crazy schedule.  Yea, will you go for that?  I didn't think so!  Maybe I'll remember to change it when I finish here.  I said maybe!  We'll see!  I'm just a little behind!

I rearranged the front porch this morning.  Country Boy & I were sitting out there last night and he asked if I was going to move the porch furniture so that it would sit underneath the fan.  I mentioned doing that last year during the summer months.  I was surprised he remembered!  So, I vacuumed, swept and then moved the furniture and rearranged the plants.  I'm sitting on the loveseat underneath the fan, a cool breeze is blowing and it is delightful!  The squirrels are chasing each other around the trees.  The birds are singing their songs and the cats are chillin'!  Good idea!

Nothing really exciting has happened here in the country lately.  Which is a good thing!  Hunter continues to chase lizards and brought one into the house yesterday.  So far, he hasn't brought anything else in especially in the middle of the night!  He has a special meow that lets us know he's got something for us and up we jump to try and intervene before he lets whatever it is go!  I may have mentioned this before but he's brought in mice, a bird, a rabbit and lizards.  You just never know what it's going to be!  Kids!

Here's the Hunter himself.  He's on top of the chicken run checking things out!

Notice the BEWARE OF ATTACK ROOSTER sign?  When we bought that sign it was a joke because the rooster we had was so docile.  His name was Greybeard and he was a gentle soul.  I miss him!  (We sold all our chickens because we were anticipating a move that hasn't quite happened.)  Actually, I miss all my chickens *sad face*.  But, back to the sign, when we got another batch of chickens a year or so later we ended up with another rooster *sigh*.  So, we built a second coop and then split the chickens between the two boys.  The new rooster was not so gentle.  His name was Ozzie.  Maybe he didn't like his name, who knows!  One day I was in the chicken run giving he and his girls some kitchen scraps when he flew at me.  Well, that didn't sit well with Momma!  I chased after him, picked him up and promptly gave him a scolding!  He kept his eye one me but he listened!  He was probably shocked that I went after him *laugh*!  Sounds silly but what can I say... it worked!  He didn't attack me anymore.  He saved it for the neighbors instead!

I know you're going to ask, "What the heck is that?"!  It's another cat!  I brushed two of them and ended up with a third!

I've been brushing the ones that will let me brush them everyday trying to get rid of their winter coat.  It's just too hot now to have all that hair plus it knots up if I don't brush it.  I'm hoping one day to not get anymore hair off them!  One day soon I hope!

Yes I'd Like Some Rain Please!

I was cooking dinner this evening when I noticed that it had gotten dark all of a sudden.  We haven't had any rain for a couple of weeks so I got excited thinking that we were in for some nice rain.  Yesterday Country Boy watered the veggie gardens and I watered the flowers & plants.  After dinner, I went out my front porch and saw this...

and this...

Looks promising!  But alas, no rain.  It blew right on over and not one drop came forth. *sigh*
