New Tenant

This morning while Country Boy and I were having our coffee on the front porch he noticed a bird checking out the bird condo.  Sure enough, she started gathering stuff and taking it to her condo of choice.  She chose the lower corner unit facing the feeder and the bird bath!

I'm not sure what kind of bird she is since I can't find her in my bird book.   I think I'm going to have to get another bird book since this is the second one I haven't been able to identify.

There's a lot of nest material outside both entrances... hopefully she'll eventually use it!  We're just so happy somebody is finally moving in!

Then there's Hunter... he spotted her gathering stuff and flying up to the condo.  So he decides he's going to hang out at the base of the tree stump and watch her.  He even climbed halfway up the tree stump then decided he'd better not go all the way since 'Mom' was hollerin' at him!  I guess he figured he'd get a drink instead!  Mind you, he has his own bowl of reverse osmosis well water but evidently the bird's water is much better!

Mmm, that was good!

No new tenants for the chicken coop though *sad face*.  I am really disappointed that I don't have my chicks already.  As I mentioned before, they're on back order.  Have you ever heard of such a thing?  I guess a lot of people decided to buy chicks this year.  Probably because the cost of store bought eggs are ridiculous and don't even taste that good!  Our local feed store said they will be in on May 18.  Over a month away, ugh!  Anyway, I keep telling myself that there's a reason why we haven't gotten any chicks yet.  I just wish I knew what that reason was then maybe I wouldn't be so disappointed!

Have a great weekend y'all!

Till next time,

Looks like it might be a great crested flycatcher. Altho there's a TON of different flycatchers and they have closely-related cousins too like pewees and phoebes. My vote goes to great crested flycatcher tho. :)

glad she's going to use your house!!!

p.s. love your silly kitty. my dogs like to drink out of the bird bath too - altho mine is a lot lower than that one. :)

Is that the only feed store that you can get chicks from? Maybe there are some to be had elsewhere? I'm anxious for baby chicks too! :)
