Almost Forgot How & A Painting Project

It's been so long since I've written a blog post that I feel as though I've almost forgotten how!

No, seriously folks.  It has been awhile since I've posted but I've not forgotten how.  I just wasn't in the frame of mind to blog.  Many of you have emailed me out of concern and I truly do appreciate it more than you'll ever know (even though I've not made the time to respond to many of you and for that I'm truly sorry, but, please know that it blessed me greatly to read your emails and know that you care.  I will get back to you soon now that I'm online again!).

It's been exactly one month since my Mom's passing.  It's been an adjustment and still doesn't seem real at times.

I have not been on the computer much these past few weeks and it's been a nice break for me.  But, I think I'm ready to get back to blogging again on a more regular basis again.

Since the computer did not take up much of my time these past few weeks, Country Boy and I have been staying busy watching puppies grow and catching up on many projects around the wanna-be farm/homestead.

One such project was to paint the inside of the Country Cabin Chicken Coop.  I thought by painting the interior a nice bright white that it would help keep it lighter, brighter and cooler in there.

So, one day, Country Boy cleaned all the old hay out and tackled the massive cobwebs in the corners.  Meanwhile, I gathered up all my painting supplies and was ready to go when he finished.

A couple of before pictures...

All the different colors (red, white, natural wood) were driving me nuts.

Country boy also took the fan out since it was in desperate need of a good cleaning.  What do you think?

Pretty dirty and dusty I'd say!

While Country Boy was cleaning the fan I started painting the back wall.  I got about half-way down the wall when he finished up the fan and came in to help.  With the two of us we made fairly quick work of getting it done.

Several chickens were in the nest boxes working on laying an egg as you can see in one of the photos.  When we got closer to the nest boxes the raucous and the decibel level in the coop greatly elevated.  It was quite loud in the coop for a while!

The after pictures...

(Notice the nice, clean fan?!)

My theory of a lighter, brighter coop is true.  The white reflects the light coming through the windows and the clear panel (skylight) on the roof.  It also seems to stay cooler too.  (Could just be my imagination though, hahaha!)

I'm really happy with how it turned out and the chickens seems to like it too!

Till next time,

I'm sure it is a long road in healing.

The coop looks wonderful!

And, I totally understand a break in blogging. Mine has slipped way down as well.

Take care if yourself!

So sorry about your mom. I lost mine this year too and I think I'm still digesting the event. :(
